UPDATED SKINCARE COLLECTION : THE NEW HOLY GRAILS
I have always loved trying out new skincare products. I don’t believe skincare has to be expensive to work as I think many of them are just overpriced, but my curiosity takes the better of me most times.
I believe in natural and cheaper skincare, but a lot of time, the ones I have tried never worked, and they never smelt nice to me. I like things to smell nice, So honestly, I believe more in chemicals ( or shall I say branded products to an extent) when it comes to my skincare( the gentle ones); perhaps it’s the scientist in me talking, or maybe I find that they seem to work quicker for me.
The times I struggled with acne pushed me into trying so many products, many of which were very expensive, and a few of them I still use now even after I no longer struggle with acne.
One of them is dermologica; although it didn’t do much for acne back then, it was such a pleasure to use, and I love it, so whenever I have a few spare changes to splurge, I buy them. The good thing is that you can also get the mini versions now, which are more affordable.
Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Extreme range was the one I believe did the magic for me—the serum and tonic. Although other factors contributed to my acne disappearing, such as a change in diet and lifestyle, these two products were what I was using when my acne cleared out entirely. Even after that, I still see the effect.
Occasionally when I eat something I shouldn’t have eaten, I get a couple of breakouts, and I only need to use the glycolic serum for a couple of nights, and it disappears. So that right there is my holy grail. I also spot-treat with TCP sometimes.
Summertime is when everyone, including me, wants their skin to glow, and I think its to do with the sun. So Vitamin C products tend to sell well during this time of the year.
I have tried the Pixi glow toner before in my acne days, it smells nice but didn’t do much for me either, but I decided to try their overnight glow a few weeks. Unfortunately, I haven’t used it well enough to give a review.
I also thought to try the nip and fab Vitamin C and haven’t used that well enough to review.
I love the Elizabeth Arden vitamin c serum, very pricey, but I think it’s worth it. I love they come in that capsule bit, and there is more than enough for your face and neck. I love how light the serum is as well.
My new favourite is this Ren overnight dark spot sleeping cream, and this has now become my second holy grail; very pricey but so worth it. I have used it every day for over two weeks, and I can see the difference in my skin (psst I even use it in the day and always apply sunscreen). My skin loves it so much I can tell. The smell is not great, but it’s not bad either. I love the thickness of the cream, and a little seems to go a long way. Although I use it both day and night, I can see this lasting me at least two months.
