WHAT IS YOUR STORY ?

It’s funny how we get so excited and interested when we read about another person’s life on Google. Regardless of whether you have or have never met them, you feel a certain familiarity toward them, and you are informed about them. It’s a strange feeling, almost as if you are part of their journey. You feel like you have some sort of connection to them, even if it’s just a virtual one. It’s a strange phenomenon, but one that many people enjoy.

Our feelings towards someone can be influenced by what we read about them. We may feel a connection or similarity to them, or we may form a negative opinion. Regardless, just reading about them induces these feelings. We may not always read things that are 100% accurate, or even half as accurate, but we still like what we read, and we feel connected to them because somehow they’re not such high-up humans anymore. “She’s just like me; she’s imperfect, and based on what I can see right now, I’m actually even better than her, and that gives me a better feeling about myself.”

The other night, I was engrossed in reading a story about a renowned pastor. It dawned on me that I am deeply fascinated by stories about people, similar to how I feel when I read about people in the Bible. If any of my fellow Bible study group members come across this, they can attest to how I effortlessly relate Bible stories to our daily lives. Though I am not sure how I do it, it always feels relatable. I guess it’s because the stories in the Bible are timeless, and they are able to speak to us in ways that other stories can’t. They are filled with life lessons that are relevant to us no matter what time period we live in.

As I read the pastor’s story, I found myself chuckling and pondering what others would think when they read about my own life. Additionally, I couldn’t help but wonder what God would uncover if He were to read about me and how He might react.

Now we all know that God is omniscient and knows our story before it even begins. However, let’s ignore that for a minute and think about it.  What would your story be if you had the power to shape it yourself?
