REASONS TO LOVE WINTER ❄️

The cold never used to appeal to me, but living in the UK, the warmer months are also not so warm either, and the few hot days during summer are almost enough to make me wish it were winter.

For me, I think  Autumn and winter, which encompass the colder months, hold a particular appeal for me. In recent years, the colder months have translated into cosiness for me, which I enjoy immensely. As the temperature drops and the air becomes crisp, a sense of tranquillity and enchantment permeates the surroundings. The winter month’s shorter days and longer nights give you the feeling of slowing down, and since I am a night owl, I am always more productive when it’s dark; that’s another reason I enjoy winter months.  Over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing with you  some reasons why I and many people worldwide love winter ;

  • Comfort and coziness

One of the main reasons I love the colder months is the opportunity to embrace cosy comfort. Winter to me means layering up, and I can be found wearing my pyjamas underneath that outfit but you’ll never know. I’m not ashamed to admit I do it, especially for quick shop runs—oh, and those huge coats and hoodies, the bigger, the better for me.

Wrapping myself in warm throws and blankets and indulging in nice warm drinks, for me that would be my big mug of tea and occasional hot chocolate. I love tea and drink it year-round, but in winter months, it always tastes better and hits the spot just right.

While I can’t remember when my love of tea began, I do remember becoming obsessed with Whittards of Chelsea tea. They made me love loose tea, and I found out they sold a wide range of teas and hot chocolate, and I became addicted to trying them all. Additionally, I began to appreciate the unique flavors and aromas each type of tea had to offer. I have tried other tea brands since then, but I always return to Whittard. Every year they bring out new flavours and blends of tea and hot chocolate, they will always be my favourite.

FYI: they also sell coffee

A warm fire in the comfort of your home is a wonderful experience (this is a dream of mine for one day.)

The warmth that comes with these simple pleasures cannot be matched.

  • Embracing Winter Traditions

Winter brings with it an array of cherished traditions that have been passed down through generations, fostering a sense of community and warmth amidst the cold. From gathering around crackling bonfires to savouring steaming cups of hot cocoa, these traditions provide comfort and joy during the coldest months. Building snowmen, engaging in snowball fights, and gliding effortlessly across frozen ponds on ice skates create moments of pure delight, reminding us of the simple pleasures that winter bestows upon us.
Traditions are special to me, especially when it comes to raising a family, because they create lasting memories in our hearts, and they bring extra warmth and smiles to our faces every time we remember them.
We had no tradition growing up. We had very few family memories that I remembered, and I wished we had some so I could look back on them and recall what they were like. Now that I have a family of my own, I’m making sure to create some traditions that we can all cherish and remember. In the next post, we’ll talk more about family traditions, but I’ve noticed that I do many little things unconsciously during the colder weather.
My favourite morning ritual ( after my time with God) is to wake up with a nice hot cup of tea/ or hot water ( when I’m not fasting) before starting the school morning routine.
Having the radio on in the morning gives you that kick you need, no technology involved. I listen to premier praise; it is another excellent way to start. I love music, and sometimes hearing someone speak (i.e. You can sometimes navigate your thoughts in a different direction compared to when you are alone with your thoughts because the radio presenter drowns out the silence or sometimes the thoughts in your head.
