Back then things looked different Leaving wasn’ Back then things looked different Leaving wasn’t always safer for some, or practical or even acceptable .Many women stayed in the marriage not out of weakness but because they were doing the beat they could with what they had . The marriage was never violent for once but there were other things which society never says much about . This is not a post about right or wrong . It’s a post about compassion for the women who walked hard roads before us. For years I would almost “judge and condemned” my mum for her choice to remain but recently I decided to look at it the other way . I decided to look at it from a place of compassion . I know what it feels like to hold it all together I know what it feels like to hold it all together when you are quietly falling apart To smile for everyone else , while no one asks how you are really doing You’ve been the encourager , the prayer warrior, the dependable one but wven string women need somewhere soft to land It’s okay to say ‘I need help’ .
