12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Day 1: The Terrible Awakening

Welcome to 12 Days of Christmas!!
Starting from 1st December, each day will likely be a compilation of a few days. As we countdown to Christmas, I’ll share with you what’s been happening in my home and give you a glimpse of our Christmas traditions.

1st December 2023

The sun struggled to break through the thick blanket of fog as we awoke to a frosty morning. The leaves, grass, and trees were all covered with thick layers of ice. It seems colder today than yesterday morning. I thought the days of slow morning walk to school I thoroughly enjoyed seemed to be gone for now; thankfully, my daughter’s school was closed today.

Leaves With Snow Frost

I used the morning without a school run to edit a blog post, answer a few messages, and send emails while the kids played. As soon as we finished, we all got ready, wearing extra layers of clothing, and headed out to visit Grandma. Having a family member nearby is such a blessing.

We arrived in minutes, and I spent a few minutes with them before leaving the kids with grandma. Once I got home, I took a long nap after updating my website. After recharging, I was ready to take on the day and did some home chores. On my way to pick up the kids, I quickly looked in the shops since it was the first day of Christmas, but I was surprised to see them almost empty with Christmas decorations.
The next day was Saturday, and the temperature dropped with each passing day. Today was swimming lesson day, but my little girl seemed exhausted and unwell, so I took advantage of the opportunity to shop for groceries. I do not enjoy shopping on Saturdays, and if I must, I must go very early. It worked out well.
Later that day, I packed up a hamper basket to give to someone the following day.

On Sunday, 3rd December, I woke up at about 4 am with a terrible tummy ache. I’ll spare you details, but after a visit to the toilet, as soon as I got back to my bed, I had to run around again and thank God I made it on time, as I don’t think I have seen so much come out of my mouth (and nose) since my childhood. I felt relieved after that episode; however, my stomach was still not settled. I had to push that aside because we had to leave for church by 7:30 am. Did I forget to mention my husband had also been having tummy issues since the day before? Notwithstanding, we survived the one-and-a-half-hour journey to church and made it on time. Church was great, and I am glad we didn’t let our tummy issues get in the way.
